About

afterlightimageCatherine Gunther’s brand new single Buried Alive marks a new chapter in her career. Out with the old and saying goodbye to the past, the first release since her 2016 EP is an ode to the sound that came before and an introduction to what is come. Raw, emotional and passionate it’s a story of lost love, painful goodbyes and unexpected change.

Honest, unapologetic and heartfelt Catherine’s music has always been a bridge between reality and emotions. She tells it how it is and is unafraid to admit how she feels in her music.

‘When I wrote this track over two years ago I felt lost, weighed down by the sudden and unexpected changes I was faced with personally and musically. It’s sad, it’s painful, it’s raw, but at the time it was necessary. It would be a song that would become a catalyst for my new sound and musical direction. Everything I have written and recorded since comes from the cathartic nature of this track allowing me to say goodbye to the past and hello to a new beginning.’

Produced by Jared Adlam, Buried Alive is the first of six tracks planned for release over the coming months after nearly 2 years of collaboration. ‘Working with Jared has been a dream, he understood me from day one on the direction and sound I wanted to take my music in. We were very in sync about how we wanted things to sound and the plan to bring the songs to life,’ says Catherine.

To date Catherine has released two EPs independently, Livin’ On the Land in 2015 and Bittersweet Memories in 2016. Both were well received and had extensive airplay nationwide on community radio. She also has been nominated for a number of awards over the years, most notably Emerging Artist of the Year and People’s Choice Award Top 10 at the 2016 Gold Coast Music Awards. Catherine has also performed at some Australia’s premier country music festivals including Tamworth Country Music Festival (NSW), Urban Country Music Festival (QLD) and Bleach* Festival (QLD).

Catherine is currently based in Sydney, Australia.
